The very long wait post

Well, this last few weeks have been LONG and TIRING. I mean, as I've already mentioned, the Work that is needed is on the brink of devastating. From hour long essays, to tuning into the debate and reading the candidates facial expressions, this is gonna be one hard year. Talking about the presidential debate, this is the funniest year ever! I mean, back in 2004, people came up with "bush is scary, vote for Carey" and this year, its "GOBAMA!!!!! OBOMA YOUR MOMA!!!!!! McCAIN IS A PAIN!!!!! McCAIN WILL NOT REIGN!!!!!! BA-RACK THE VOTES!!!!!" I understand the amount of importance that choosing our president is, but sometimes, its just waay too funny. I mean, "Mcain is a pain"? You cant think of anything better Ryan?!? Also, I'm not sure how many SNL viewers there are out there, but you have to see Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. It is hilarious. I have a link on the bottom for those of you who would like to see it, and I strongly recommend it. Anyways, I am totally Obama, and don't think I'm pro McCain please! I'm totally not!

I have also started to drink a lot of this thing called "Propel" It is like water, but with fruits in it! Like, who thought of that!? My favorite so far is the berry one, followed by peach. Not too much of the lemon, since it tastes too artificial. I also like this drink called Viso. I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, but that drink is CRAZY good. They are made right here in Portland, with local fruits and herbs, and the thing isn't too sweet either. I recommend getting them at your local Bales store, because they are always on sale. Another metamorphosis that I'm going through is not drinking too much tea. Since I now have braces, the tea would stain my teeth, and I want to be really pretty in a few years, so no tea until high school. It sucks, because my braces are making gaps in my teeth, and I want to take revenge, but If I did that, my orthodontist would get a little gwumpy. Hes really cool though, despite calling me a girl every time I go, the work that he has done so far has been very good for my standards, and would like to give him a thanks one day, but not now, because I hate them!

Well, its Halloween again, and I sure had a fun time with my best friend Nick! We went over to his house, and as soon as we got there, Nick and I played Rock Band 2 this time. It was so fun,and I got even better at the drums. It was so fun to just be all drummer like, and hit the symbols really hard. The feeling was indescribable. After that, Nick's mom made us a shrimp curry, which was really good and spicy, and then we continued on with our rock band session. Soon after, Nicks uncle and aunt came, and his uncle actually made his own rock band drum set with drums! I cant even begin to imagine the feeling on playing a song on that big thing. Anyways, nick, his uncle, and I had a drum competition, and I of course, came in last, but just seeing his uncle made up for that. It was inhumane. He was just rocking out, hitting every single note, and the skill it must have taken to do that must have been crazy. So after that, Nick and I went on with our trick or treating business. The first few houses gave us a bunch of candy, especially the more decorated ones. One in particular gave me a not so manly experience. We climb up the steps, and I immediately see a guy wearing a pumpkin on his head, and right above him was a headless thing. So i tell the dude " hey i see you, can u just give us the candy?" but he doesn't move. Then I say " please! I just don't want that headless thing to scare me!" and still no movement. Nick starts laughing at me, but I become unrelentless. So I throw the candy bag at him, and finally he starts to laugh and gives us the candy. It was really scary, so don't think I'm not manly and brace. I am, but that was just pure paranoia. A little over 20 minutes later, Nick and I found ourselves in the middle of a secluded culdesac, and right behind us was this guy that was whispering " lets get the children" Nick turns around, and immediately starts walking faster, and eventually starts running. I started laughing, because the guy behind us was also running, and then he stops and says " I'm not that f'ed up". we barely arrive at his house, and then, we talk about all our candy. This was definitely one of the best Halloweens ever in my life so far. Thanks Nick! So that concludes this post, stay tuned for the next!

Schoolio

Good morning, afternoon or night all my loyal readers.

I'm am extremely sorry that i haven't posted a new, umm, post in the last few weeks, but hear me out! School just started, and the homework is total torture. It hard for people that don't go to my school to understand the kind of homework we do, from my my social studies teacher's story maps, to the hour-long math pages that we do on a daily basis. But that not saying that i don't like my school year. The teachers are so cool, and its just such a joy to walk in every day, and to learn things that i didn't even think about learning. Comparing this to 5 oaks is too hard, because over here, I'm really being challenged, and I know that this is the school i want to be in in order to live a productive life. The only melancholy thing about this year is knowing that almost all my friends are leaving in order to, and i quote(!), " have a normal high school year", which i think is really ridiculous, no offense Ryan! So, i beg of you, if one of my friends is reading this, please please please stay! IB AND MYP is an amazing opportunity, so trust me!

Another this that has happened to me recently is the trip that i took to Seattle. For me, it was an amazing experience, from seeing Pike Place to going into this chocolate bar place( the best words to describe it) In case you don't know, I'm a total foodie, and just to see the love and passion that the people in Pike Place put in their ingredients was a once in a lifetime experience, and i even got a garlic and Rosemary pasta from papardelles. if you think I'm rambling, please be tolerant! I There is nothing i respect more than food! Anyways, after i shared that same story and experience to all my family members back home, i got up to reading an INSANELY dark and cynically funny book called Fight Club. Now, i don't want to spoil anything, but i will say that the ending is absolutely and totally unexpected, and your mouth will be hanging like the thing in a grandfather clock. So if i continue to talk about this, I will accidentally give it away!

Now, to change the subject from spoilers, i have an amazing restaurant review for you! The restaurant is called Decarli, and its food its mostly a modern rustic fusion, with a menu that changes daily, offering Beaverton a unique gourmet experience. We called for a reservation, and immediately got there ( we found out about the restaurant by going on restaurant.com and getting a 25 dollar coupon) So we get in, everything nice and dandy, and immediately order. The food is a little on the expensive side, but considering that everything that can be made from scratch is, and all the meets and fish come from Oregon. Our appetizer was a plate of polenta fries with a Gorgonzola butter. Amazing! The polenta melted in your mouth, and the Gorgonzola perfectly complimented the softness. We waited another half hour for our main courses, which was understandable, because there was a HUGE table of random dudes, about 20 of them, and the chefs had to make everything to order. I had a house made Cheese ravioli with lobster mushrooms in a light butter sauce, my mother had a steak, and my father had a piece of cod which was served with lentils, lemon, capers, and basil. The cod was the last one of the evening, so we felt extremely lucky to have gotten it. There aren't enough words in the English language to describe the food. It was absolutely Delicious. Everything was a la carte, and the flavors were just harmonious. To top it all of, we had a desert of vanilla bean panna cotta, with a fig and balsamic vinegar top. You might think that sounds gross, but if you had a bite, you'd understand the pleasure i got from each and every bite. So, if you are looking for an amazing place to celebrate, Decarli is the place to go!
That concludes this post, and stay tuned for the newest one!

My thank you letter

Wow. That is the only word in the English vocabulary that can describe my feeling as of today. I just can't get it through to my head that in one week, i will have to start waking up at 6 again. But its not like i am regretting my summer. I did so much in so little time. I read 3 Huge books, brushed up on my Spanish language, including hola and gracias, saw some of my best friends 4 life, but most importantly, i started my blog. It's scary to think how far I've come from that little idea i got one night to making a full empire made up of only words. I only have my friends and my loyal readers to thank for that, and i know I've said that so many times, but this is a real thank you card, and my next post is dedicated to my readers. First, i want to talk to you about my crazy-skillz friend Sage. She recently made up a website, who's link is on the bottom, of her pictures. I was so amazed when i saw her Pics, since they are so sharp and so delicate. She's given me advice on how to make my blog in "Tip-Top" shape, and im so gratefull. So Sage, I thank you!
Next, is my Green friend Jake. Whenever i would have the opportunity to see him, i knew that I would have amazing feedback. He is one of my most loyal readers, and encourages me every step of the way. Not to mention hes got a seriously cool girl friend ( NOT girlfriend i think!) Anna, who has also recently started to read my blog. It means so much to hear them say " your post was amazing, and i cant wait for the next one" So Jake and Anna, I thank you!
Last but not least is my first blog fan, Victoria. The first day i posted my first entry, she sent me and email asking me when the next post was, and could she be the first one to read it. Sure enough, i sent her the link as soon as i was done, and ever since, shes been an amazingly loyal reader. Its so weird to think that we became friends by hating one of our classes together, which i wont name due to paranoia, but i will say that our song " Under my Umbrella" sealed our friendship forever! So Victoria, I thank you!
On another note, i was extremely happy on Saturday, due to one thing. I know that i have mentioned that i don't want to be a materialistic person, and so that is why i bought myself an iPod shuffle! Its purple, and i love it even more than my old one, which had a very sad story with it. Anyways, this iPod cost me 60 dollars, since i had a coupon for Fred Meyers for 10 dollars, and i just LOVE IT! It's so nice to jam around with a thing that's not even as heavy as a toothpick hanging from my shirt. Plus, the battery will last longer, since i wont be messing around with it while im listening to songs. Another thing that is happening to me on Saturdays now is that i am going to a retirement home for my long overdue volunteer work. I have begun to appreciate the smaller things in life, even if i am playing the wii with all the residents. People don't understand how important life is, and one little mistake could lead up to your demise. At the same time, if you live life the way i live it, every day will become a journey, and don't take anything for granted! So, follow me, not in a cult kinda way, but in an advice way.
So, thats it for this week, i wont make a new post until a week, since im going to Seattle on Saturday, which is pretty cool! So, thanks once again! And i really do respect and love all my readers, but the ones i mentioned on top were just the ones who give me feedback all the time!

Im not sure about the date today, so ill call it "today"

Hey everyone!

Wow, have i had a tough and busy week! I have started doing my Tae Kwon Do, and I'm super happy! Not just because i can punch things now, but also because my two trainers, 15 and 13, and from Bosnia! We speak the same language, and they're cool! So yea, every time i go, we laugh and talk and they are really awesome to be with. My main trainer has also said that he is super impressed with my work, and ill be in an advanced program really soon! Almost everyday i walk the 15 minutes to get there, which isn't fun. 2 Dogs always bark on my with a fiery rage, as if i were some human cat hybrid, and i always get freaked out. Plus, i just saw a movie about the Zodiac killer, and now I'm really afraid that someone will just come up to me and BAM, I'm dead. It's sad, but its so true. Talking about sports stuff, the Olympics are really good this year! The best thing I've seen so far was a volleyball match between Latvia and The United States, who were considered the best male team, but guess who won! Yea, Latvia did. It was so exhilarating to see them put everything they've got into one match! Sadly though, no Croatians have been shown so far. Im still hoping that we'll come out with at least a bronze, but you can never be sure.

Another thing that i want to touch up on is a book that all 8'th graders in my school are required to read. Its called The Book Thief. As many of you already know, i like it for many reasons, mostly being that it is a break for me of being so happy. The book is sad, touching, and it has a lot of dark humor. The thing that amazes me is the way the author made the narrator Death, the figure. Not only does it make it not Anne Frank part 2, but it adds such a deep and insightful character. If you haven't read it yet, totally do, because i cant remember another book that has been this original. Another book that I'd recommend for Book Buffs would be Vallhalla Rising, and Clive Cussler book. Although not the best of the Dirk Pitt Series, but it's a real guilty pleasure, and fun to read. So if your bored, and want to read, please read these books.

And Lastly, a sad day is coming up for many people... the last day of summer. But not for me! I can't tell you how happy I am! I get to see all my friends, all my Favorite teachers, and also, i get to have something to do, regardless if it sucks. I am going out of my mind waiting for it to be 5:30 so that i can go to my training, since I've got absolutely nothing to do, and its killing me! So, if any of you whoa re reading are feeling the same way as I am, please send me an email so that we could organize something too go somewhere! Please do it, because you will save me from becoming a vegetable.

Once again, thank you, all my loyal readers and feedbackers. It means a lot to me!

My "more of a rant post than a blog"

Hi everyone, again. I think that by next week, the "hi everyone" will change into something a little more... Exuberant. Well, this week has been like every other week, boring and lazy. My life in a nutshell is the song Longview by Green Day. If you haven't heard it, then you don't know 90's post-punk music, since that song rules. But listen to the unabridged version, its a LOT funnier. Anyway, enough about my ranting on music again, i want to share my experience with my friend Jake. As some of you might know, Jake is unfortunately moving to Seattle or something, and I'm very sad. Jake was always creepy funny, and just fun to be around. He said that I will get to go to his Birthday Party! Woah! So yea, we went to the pool on Wednesday, and i left my home at 12:00, even though Jake made the time for 12:30. Well, lucky for me, the pool opened at 1, so i had to sit outside for 40 minutes, waiting for Jake to come and waiting for it to be 1. Finally he arrives, and he starts telling me about his " lovva" Anna, who he met at a camp. So knowing this, in the pool, i went over to a 6 year old who was a real pain, since she was splashing me, and kicking me, and mumbling, and all these weird things, not to mention she was in all pink. I go over to her, and i tell her that Jake has been "checking her out" the whole time, and i ask her would she ever date him. Her answer was hilariousssss! She said " well, he is kinda hot!" Jake comes over, and that girl immediately blushes, and so we go out and i tell him what happened. He was SOOO mad! But after that, we had a fun, time, and then we went home.

Another phsyical activity that will be playing a part in my life will be " Tae Kwon Do"! I'm a little nervous about all the push ups and stuff, but finally, If another dude asks me if I'm a girl, my reply will be a cool punch or something. I got the uniform, and i look really tough in it, even though I've got the same flexing abilities of a bendy straw. That not a lot. The only downside is that the classes are at 6:40, and i would have loved to do something during the day, instead of what I'm doing now, which is rewriting my ENTIRE mandarin Notebook, and writing every character 5 times, which i wish i could be doing better things. I have also started waking up at 6:30 again, trying to get my mind into the fact that school is starting pretty soon, and i dont remember anything from the Pythagorean theorem!

My last and probably most controversial topic through this post will be drink corporations. Yesterday, i found a coupon for "jamba Juice" in the newspapers, so i decided that i would get a free drink. I enter the place, and it was so weird! There were all the "excersizingy" people ordering this wheat grass stuff. What the frick is wheat grass... I suppose its grass that a drink, but i don't see the point of all that money for a shot of grass. U might as well grow a lawn, and every time you mow it, collect the grass and blend it. Also, if i may add, and this will make a lot of people mad, but i like sharing my opinion to the world, so here it goes... Starbucks SUCKS. It s just a huge corporation that likes selling coffee drinks with who knows what else in them. I don't understand why people don't go to local coffee places, like in Portland, coffee people, and stumptown. These were coffee places that are Portland, and it's saddening to see that so many local places have been bought by Starbucks. My favorite motto in the whole world is "friends don't let friends drink at Starbuck" And with that, I bid you adieu.

A break from Cancun

Hey everyone.
Well, as you can tell by my title, i have decided to take a break from Cancun, and talk about what has happened to me over the last 2 weeks, since there have been a LOT. First off, it has been decided. I am getting braces! My teeth suck, so I'm happy about finally fixing them, but I'm so afraid! I don't want them to hurt a lot, and plus, braces aren't cool! I'll have to wear them for 3 years or so. So I have been thinking about which color i should choose. I am thinking of pink, and also maybe black, but i want my colors to be sentimental, and thats why i am probably going to go with purple. Purple rules. End of story.

I also met up with one of my best friends ever, Nick Boyer. I went to his house, and he had this Video game called "Rock Band" I was the singer of the group, and i had so much fun! This was the first time I got to rock out on Tom Sawyer! But on some songs, my voice just sucked! For example, on In Bloom, by Nirvana, the voice was so low, i couldn't even understand the lyrics sometimes! As Nicks brother Kyle pointed out, you really have to be depressed when singing! But before i even got in his house, i got super lost! I rode the bus, thinking that i knew exactly where it was, but omg was I confused. I was walking along a neighborhood of the exact same houses, where the numbers went from 8___ to 71___! I called Nick about 3 times, and then, somehow, i found him. After 25 minutes of running. At least i now know what do do when I'm lost... Walk around aimlessly, since it totally worked for me!

Yesterday, my father decided to do his job at home, which was a welcome change from being alone ALL THE FRICKIN TIME. Yeah, he was on the computer a lot, but at least i wasn't alone. I saw a really good movie called Memento, and it was confusing, but as i was thinking about what happened at the end, it started to make sense. If you haven't seen it, i HIGHLY recommend you do, because its totally one of the best thrillers i have ever seen. So around noon, my dad and i walked around, and went to a cafe called Alchemy, where i had 2 amazing crepes filled with zucchini and a bunch of other vegetables, topped with a Gorgonzola tomato sauce. As Rachael Ray would say, Yumm-O! it was really good. I came back, and for dinner, I had burgerville, because we had some guests over a few days ago, and we were totally out of food. Their onion rings are really good, and i have had a lot of different onion rings in my life! So, thats the end of this weeks post, I hope you stay tuned for the next ones!

Cacnun: Part 1

Hey everyone! I got back from Mexico on Monday, and I Can't wait to share my stories with you! Before I start, I have to introduce all the people i went with. So the family that invited us were Nick, Natalie, and Noah, who are the kids of Judy and David, and the Other Family has a son named James ( who's 3), and a daughter named Francis. Also, the Hotel I stayed at was called the Mayan Palace. So lets start with the first day i got there. The Airport stuff was super boring, Since we had to wait in Mexico city for about 4 hours. We ate at a nice Taco place called Tacos 747, but other than that, i just read my book. We got to Cancun, and immediately I was struck by the Humidity. As soon as i got out of the Airport, my whole body started to feel sticky! Anyways, we get Picked up By Judy and David, and get to our hotel in a jiffy. I was super excited to see Noah, who is 4 years old, and iv known him ever since he was a baby. He tells me that I'm his favorite person in the world! So after about 5 minutes in the Hotel room, Nick, who is also 13, invites me to go the the pool with him. I was kinda iffy, since it was Midnight, and i had to wake up at 4 earlier that morning just to get to the airport, but i agreed. We got to the pool, and it was HUGE! There were about 6 pools connected to each other, each ending in a small waterfall, and on the floor were neon lights. We swam for about an hour, and then headed off to their hotel room to sleep, since we wouldn't get ours until tomorrow. So, i slept on the floor with my head smelling like cholrine, excited to see what was going to come tomorrow!

I woke up the next morning to find out that my parents and all the other parents had gone out for groceries, so i was in the house with all the kids, and Nicks Grandmother. She made me some tamales for Breakfest, and i quikly got to work on Noah and James. The two of them were playing nice... for a while. Noah is in the stage of his life where he likes to punch things, and luckilly for James and I, we were the targets. So Noah punched james in the stomach suddenly, and he began to cry, and so Noah got a time out. Then, noah and James were playing on the bed with theyre legos, when Noah pushed him off of it, making James hit the corner of a table, and falling to the ground. Another time out! Finnally, Noah got the Idea, but another accident was about to follow. Noah got a really big bouncy ball, and jumped on the bed, But james wanted it too, so he jumped on the bed next to Noahs, and jumped towards the ball.Since it was so bouncy, he hit the ball, and then was flung back all the way to the bottom of his orignal bed and started crying. Noah and I, on the other hand, started laughing at what had just happened, because it really was funny. James saw we were laughing, and he calmed down a little, and they started playing again. The adults come home, and Nick and Natalie and Noah all want to go to the pool, and so everyone went. I started swimming, doing a few laps, when Noah comes in front of me, and tell me i have to play with him. So we played tag, jumping and diving in the water, and then i go do a fitness thing in the pool. We swam for a pretty long time, and then we decided to go and eat at a "Cuban" restaurant. Let me tell you, that was NOT Cuban food. Do you think that lemon grass and pineapple egg rolls are Cuban, no matter how tasty they were? The food wasn't bad, but i expected a LOT more. We got back to the Hotel room, and then just went to sleep.

Day three of our trip was almost exactly like the previous one. We went to the pool, we played tag, we ate at that "Cuban Place", and went home. But this time, instead of going home, We danced a little to some Latino music. Well, it was only me and natalie, and our moms, but still, we had fun. After some dancing, Nick and Francis wanted to show me the arcade and computer room. Theyre werent many arcade games, but i got to check my email and myspace, and have fun with Noah a little. But you will never believe what he did to a dude inside... He spanked him. For no reason! He just went up to him, and did it. I was in utter amazment, but still, it was funny! As we walked home, Noah started rambling about zombies and how theyre made of glass and etc etc, which i laughed at, but not his mom. We got to our hotel room, and slept. So stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 and maybe 4 coming out this week!
